Holly Spencer

Holly Spencer is a photographer from Utah whose engaging images speak of intimacy and simplicity. Her decision to become a photographer stemmed from a trip to New England that was planned to create opportunities for image making. Her love for photography was solidified in that trip and she never looked back. She took every course available to her throughout her early education where she was introduced to the formal qualities of photography. Holly graduated as one of the top 10 students of her graduating high school class where she received a scholarship and is currently graduating from Utah Valley University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree.

Holly has been part of several group shows where her work has been displayed in the 401 Gallery for the "Bunnell Home Project" (Summer 2008), in the Regan Theater (Fall 2008), "Cacophony" (Winter 2008) and "Event:Identity" (Winter 2008). She also had several images published in the "Expressions" magazine in 2005.

Now as she nears graduation, The City Gallery in Provo, UT will be hosting Holly Spencer's first solo show: Dance in Motion, where she has worked to develop a lighting technique with rear shutter flash that enhances the viewer's ability to see the elation and fluctuating gestures made during several different styles of dance. In these images Holly has been able to capture the stunning emotion each dancer creates through body language and their love for what they do.
